Solidarity Herbalism:
Medicine for the Moment
An in-person, 6-session course at The Brooklyn Wellness Club
April 12-June 7, 2026: Register by April 3.
In the face of increasing political violence and escalating attacks on marginalized communities, many of us are asking: how do we build the capacity to show up, care for and protect one another as we engage in struggles for justice and peace?
Solidarity Herbalism: Medicine for the Moment is a foundational herbalism course for anyone who wants to work with plant medicine as part of their community solidarity efforts. This includes individuals who are already engaged in organizing or care work in their communities, as well as people who are curious about how herbalism can support them and those that they care about in this moment.
For generations, communities have turned to herbal traditions in times of upheaval, grief, resistance and renewal. Plant medicine nourishes and protects our bodies’ natural healing processes while also deepening cultures of care and interdependence that sustain people through collective struggles.
Over six cumulative sessions, we will learn key foundations of herbalism while making batch medicine that can be taken back to our families, friends, neighborhoods, organizing spaces and communities.
We will ask:
What is solidarity and how is that different from service or charity?
Who are our people, and who are the communities with whom we are already in relationship?
What is our relationship and lineage with plant medicine and land?
How can we work with plant medicine in ways that strengthen mutual aid and local networks of care?
Together, we will:
Learn the properties of 10 herbs that support immune health, the nervous system, sleep and pain relief
Make approximately 25 herbal medicines to take back to our communities, including tinctures, teas, infused oils and salves
Make batch medicine for our communities
Go on a neighborhood plant walk to meet medicinal plants growing in the city
Deepen relationships with each other, the plants and our communities
We will explore what “medicine for the moment” can mean. This includes both medicine that supports acute conditions or rapid response efforts as well as medicine that strengthens long-term nourishment, community care and movement building.
As we prepare medicine collectively, we will reflect on where that medicine wants to flow. By the close of our time together, what we have crafted will be shared among us and carried back into the communities with whom we are already in relationship.

MEETING THE MOMENT WITH PLANT MEDICINE
In collaboration with the Brooklyn Wellness Club
Three-Part Workshop Series: Oct 19, Nov 15, + Dec 13 @ 2-4pm
How do we strengthen our resilience, focus, and agency when the systems around us feel like they’re unraveling? How do we nourish our bodies, spirits, and communities while building systems that support long-term thriving for all?
One of the most powerful ways to navigate uncertainty is to remember where we have choice and agency. We already carry wisdom to guide us: the intelligence of our own bodies, and the teachings of the natural world. Plant medicine can support our bodies to respond to challenge with intention, clarity and power.
In this three-part series, we’ll explore how tending to the interdependent relationship between our bodies, our communities and the natural world can expand both personal and collective well-being and power. Each month, we’ll focus on a different body system: the immune system for protection (October), the nervous system for grounding (November), and the cognitive system for clarity (December). Together, we’ll learn about the herbs—often found in our own kitchen cabinets—that can fortify these systems, and make plant-based medicines to nourish our power.
